Costa del Sol is also known as 'Costa del Golf' with dozens of excellent courses both along the coast and in the foothills but when you feel like a break from golf there are numerous other places to visit and explore.

The local coastal town of La Cala de Mijas is less than 10 minutes away by car. There you will find all essential shops, including a well stocked Super Sol Supermarket and a lively local market each Wednesday and Saturday. Whatever your taste in restaurants you will find something to suit, from traditional Spanish to Chinese, Thai, Indian, Italian, an Irish Pub and beach bars along the beautifully kept beach.

The popular coastal resorts  of Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Marbella and Puerto Banus are all within half an hour's drive of La Cala Resort, each with their own unique attrations and all well worth a visit.

Then there are the famous 'white villages' like Mijas, Tolax, Casares and Zahara nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada to be explored or further afield the historical towns and cities of Cadiz, Granada, Malaga, Rhonda and Seville.

For those with energy to spare, the well known ski resort of Sierra Nevada is only a couple of hours drive away, making half a days skiing easily feasible within a day trip.

The whole area abounds in places of interest, beauty and history.
